The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Japanese Variant Poster
"Look what your brother did to the door! Ain't he got no pride in his home?"
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest films ever made: Tobe Hooper's THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. A film so unrelenting in its vision and violence, it's just as effective in making your skin crawl today as it did for audiences brave enough to surrender their eyeballs to it in 1974. Developed as part of a series of posters on display recently at anniversary screenings at the MoMA.
Artwork by Matt Ryan Tobin
Edition of 85. 24” x 36”, 9-color silkscreen poster. Hand numbered
Printed by Night Swim in the USA
"I drew a lot of inspiration from Polish film posters, which I've always loved. Taking that conceptual and visual approach for sure but rather than walking the minimalist road, I barreled down hot, heat-hazed Texas asphalt, maniacally wielding a large, buzzing power tool."Â -- Matt Ryan Tobin
